OTTAWA – The Black Friday holiday weekend is all about giving but thieves did some taking. City and county officers received several reports of thefts from houses and vehicles. Ottawa police say a burglar broke into a home in the 1100 block of Augusta Lane sometime before Sunday evening. The sheriff’s department said someone stole items worth $2,500 from a home along U.S. 59 south of Princeton before Sunday morning. Police also said someone took several checks from a house in the 500 block of South Elm in Ottawa sometime this month or last. A purse was taken from a vehicle parked in the 500 block of South Mulberry Friday or Saturday. Items were stolen from a car parked in the 900 block of Highland Saturday.
