OSAWATOMIE — The Osawatomie Volunteer Fire Department made three runs before and after the weekend. Firefighers put out an attic fire in a structure at 14th and Pacific in Osawatomie Monday evening. A fire was found in the insulation in the attic and was likely to be electrical in origin. Firefighters also put out smoldering fence in an alley in the 400 block of Chestnut Saturday evening. Firefighters said someone had poured hot ashes near the fence, causing it to catch fire. Area residents put the fire out before firefighters arrived. They also put out a fire in a dryer in a house in the 700 block of Pacific on Friday. The house received some minor smoke damage.
