WASHINGTON – U.S. Sen. Pat Roberts (R-KS) has joined U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-MO) in sponsoring a bill to designate the Liberty Memorial and Museum in Kansas City as the national World War I memorial. Roberts said although more than 4 million Americans served in World War I, there is no national memorial honoring them. The Liberty Memorial has been a fitting tribute to World War I since it was built in 1921 and serve admirably as a national memorial, he said.
