OTTAWA — The bell-ringers may be cold this week but the Salvation Army’s Red kettle campaign is red-hot as contributions continue to run ahead of last year’s record pace. The Salvation Army’s Adam Lynch said that volunteers are willing to brave the bitterly-cold winds. Donors tend to drop more money in the kettles when it’s colder, he said. Perhaps they feel sorry for the bell-ringers, he added. Franklin County residents have given solid support to the Salvation Army, he said. This year’s goal is $22,222. If you’d like to volunteer as a bell ringer, call 418-1287.
