OTTAWA –The Elizabeth Layton Center’s Diane Drake said the center will to have to cut services and staff to meet new state budget cuts recently ordered by Gov. Mark Parkinson to cover a state revenue shortfall. Because of Parkinson’s cuts to Medicaid, drake said the center will lose $70,000 per month, which she calls a huge hit. Drake told county commissioners this morning that the center will slash pay and employee benefits, scale back the number of discounted services available to poor clients and end most substance abuse programs. The cuts would start take effect Jan. 1 she said.
