OTTAWA — ECKAN’s Richard Jackson said this year’s Christmas Bureau has even more families in need because of the bad economy. More families have applied for food or toys this year, including families that have never approached ECKAN for help, he said. Toys will be distributed Thursday afternoon. More volunteers and donors are needed this year, he said. The Christmas Bureau’s goal is $7,500 this year but Jackson says $2,200 has been collected.
