OTTAWA — Franklin County Commissioners will vote Wednesday on a proposal to create a new Extension district covering Franklin and Osage counties. Franklin County Extension chair Aaron Dunbar said he’s in favor of combining the two counties. The deal represents a cost savings and more efficiency and it will allow the two counties’ Extension agents to do something new. Commission chair Ed Taylor said that given the support from the two counties’ Extension councils, the merger made sense. The Osage County Commission has already approved the proposal. It would set up an independent Extension district with its own taxing authority and elections for district board members.
