TOPEKA — Kansas Insurance Commissioner Sandy Praeger has fined Progressive Direct Insurance Company $5,000. Praeger said she also ordered the company to give refunds to some customers. Progressive violated state law by raising vehicle insurance premiums before it filed a rate-increase request with the Kansas Insurance Commissio, she said. About 23,000 kansas customers with motorcycles and recreational vehicles were affected.
Progressive Direct is an on-line insurance company based in Ohio.
