OTTAWA — The Ottawa school district is now a bus company. Today is the last day that D&H bus company will run the Ottawa school buses, said school Superintendent Dean Katt. At their special meeting Monday night, the school board decided to buy out the bus company and the school district will run the buses when school resumes in January. Katt said that despite the sudden switch, the district is ready. Bus drivers will continue as school employees and parents and students should see nothing different because of the switch, he said. If there are any questions, parents will now call the school district, he said. The district will pay $213,000 for the bus system. Katt says the buy will save the school district $100,000 next year.
