SALINA — About 170 soldiers of the Kansas National Guard will be honored in Salina Wednesday morning before deploying to Afghanistan. Lt. Gov. Troy Findley and Maj. Gen. Tod Bunting will speak at the ceremony. The Guard troops being deployed are in the state’s engineer units based at Iola and Augusta. The Garnett detachment is part of the Iola battalion.
