GARNETT — It was a Christmas present that Anderson County Sheriff Scot Brownrigg didn’t want. A malfunctioning fire sprinkler system went off inside the new law enforcement center Christmas night. Some of the carpet on the main floor got wet, he said. Emergency management director Marvin Grimes said some drywall board and a television in his office were damaged. Brownrigg told the Anderson County Review no staff and inmates were harmed and were evacuated to a dry spot in the center. Contractors are checking to see why the sprinkler went off, he said. Because the new center is still under warranty, either the insurance company or contractor will pay for repairs, he said.
