TOPEKA — A fast-moving winter storm will dump another three to four inches on east central Kansas beginning this morning. There’s a winter storm warning for Douglas, Miami and Linn counties and a winter storm advisory for the rest of the KOFO listening area. Chad Omitt, National Weather Service forecaster in the Topeka office, said when the storm is over, it isn’t over. The snow will be followed by high winds and plunging temperatures that will produce dangerously-low wind chills, he said. Wind chills could get down to 30-below, the worst in several years, Omitt said. You should stay inside, he said. If you have to get out, protect your skin because it could freeze in a few minutes in such wind-chills, he said. The Bea Martin Peck Animal Shelter reminds you to bring outdoors pets inside.
