OTTAWA — The entire front awning between the south Dollar General and the Goodwill store just collapsed before noon Monday because of snow. Officers and others were digging to make sure no one was under the awning when it collapsed. County Commissioner Don Stottlemire was next door when the awning collapsed and said he heard a gigantic crash. Goodwill employee Steven Howard saw the awning collapse but didn’t see anyone under it when it fell. Howard blocked off the awning between Goodwill and Country Mart which he said is starting to bow under the weight of the snow on it.
