PAOLA — The new Paola fire station is nearly complete and is ahead of schedule. The station is scheduled to be done in mid-February but Paola fire chief Andy Martin told the Miami County Republic that firefighters are moving items in. The station is a converted school building and is being paid through a quarter-cent sales tax increase approved by Paola voters in 2007. Martin said he’d like to display some historical items and photos from both the old school building and the fire department in the new station.
