OTTAWA — Ottawa school officials now have had a little more than a week’s experience of running school buses. Superintendent Dean Katt said that despite a few bumps in the road, the switchover has worked out well. The district is getting bids to install global-positioning units on all of the buses. The school board bought the bus service from its private contractor just before the holiday break and has had slightly more than two weeks to prepare. Katt said the school district will save at least $100,000 this year by running its own buses.
