GARNETT — Anderson County’s unemployment rate improved slightly at the end of the year, but the number of jobless residents is still higher than the end of 2008. The county hit a high of 8.6 percent unemployment in july but dropped to 7 percent by the end of November. However, the jobless rate was 5.5 percent a year earlier, the Anderson County Review reported. The county’s unemployment rate was higher than the state average.
