OTTAWA — Midland Railway officials will review three bids to repair trestles along the railroad in Frankin County. Franklin County has received a grant for the repairs on behalf of the Baldwin City-based tourist railroad. Midland’s president Mike Fox met with county commissioners Wednesday to open bids and he said he’ll ask them to approve the bid this week and get the work on track. Repairing the trestles will allow the railroad to run trains all the way between the depot in Baldwin City to Ottawa Junction, instead of stopping at the Franklin County line, he said. Fox said he’s surprised how low the low bid is below the engineer’s estimate for the work.
