KANSAS CITY — Kansas City Power & Light and Westar will send 180 crew members to Tulsa today to help Oklahoma utilities facing forecasts of a severe ice storm hitting the Southern Plains. The National Weather Service said the storm will bring high winds and a nasty mixture of snow, sleet and freezing rain – bad for power lines.  KCP&L’s Bill Herdegen said utilities help each other out when bad storms hit.  Westar sent 90 people to Iowa to help in the aftermath of a severe winter storm last week.
