GARNETT — The Garnett Area Chamber of Commerce will honor Sonic as Business of the Year and Susan Wettstein as the Volunteer of the Year at the annual chamber banquet Wednesday night. Jason and Paula Sjorlund have managed and been co-owners of the Garnett Sonic since 1991. Other owners are Max Rickerson and Lyle and Leon Briley. Sonic employs around 20 people during the winter and about 40 during the summer, making it one of the larger employers in the county. Susan Wettstein works for the city and owns Candy Bouquet and Floral Expression in Garnett. She has been involved in several area groups including the Jaycees, Garnett Business and Professional Women, Garnett Area Chamber of Commerce, Lake Garnett Cruisers Car Club, Big Brother Big Sisters of Anderson County, the tourism committee, Friends of the Prairie Spirit Trail and the Garnett Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. The banquet will begin with a social at 6:30. Greensburg GreenTown director Daniel Wallach will be speaker. Tickets for the banquet are $16.
