TOPEKA — In the wake of a sex scandal at the women’s prison in Topeka, legislators are considering a bill that would give guards prison time if they’re convicted of having sex with inmates. Kansas corrections secretary Roger Werholtz told Kansas Information Network that he hopes that requiring prison time will prevent incidents like what happened at Topeka. Presently, those guards convicted of sexual misconduct get probation.
