LAWRENCE — A Kansas University student from Baldwin City will intern at the United Nations’ International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia at The Hague, the Netherlands. Katherine Beall, a senior in KU’s international studies program with a minor in Slavic language, will work five months beginning in August in the Office of the Prosecutor in the Leadership Research Section. She’ll research and analyze the former Yugoslavia and its breakup. The prosecutor is handling war crimes that took place during the 1990s in the Balkans, particularly Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina during the breakup of Yugoslavia. Beall is a Watkins-Berger Scholar and is a member of the KU rowing team.
