TOPEKA — Kansas Secretary of State Ron Thornburgh has announced his resignation. He says this week is his last week. Thornburgh will become senior vice president of sales and marketing at the Olathe-based company NIC. NIC is the leading provider of official government portals, on-line services and secure government payment processing programs. In his announcement, Thornburgh thanked Kansas voters for the support. He has been secretary of state nearly 16 years. Gov. Mark Parkinson will appoint a successor.
