OMAHA, Neb. — An economist says the regional economy shows signs of some recovery. Creighton University economics professor Ernie Goss said there was some economic growth in the Great Plains in January but it’s still shaky. Goss said the numbers of indexes he tracks are as good as he’s seen in a long time, but said the recovery could still be fragile. Layoffs are slowing and Goss said some businesses are actually considering some modest pay increases. However, Kansas is one of two states in the region that has an economy that remains stagnant., he said.
