PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti — Ten American missionaries charged by Haitian authorities with trafficking in children may soon have those charges dropped. ABC Radio reported a Haitian judge is said to have decided they did not have any criminal intent when they tried to take a group of children, some of whom were not orphans, into the Dominican Republic. ABC quoted court sources that said 10 parents testified that not only did they give their children willingly to the missionaries but that they would give them all over again if they had the choice. Also the court heard testimony about the relaxation of rules by the Dominican government saying that people, because of the extraordinary circumstances of the earthquake, could move across the border without a passport or a visa which would normally be required even of children. The missionaries include Topeka firefighter Drew Culberth.
