KANSAS CITY– 42-year-old Sandi Brandes has been sentenced to 15 months in federal prison for embezzling about $77,000 from her employer so she could build an experimental airplane. Brandes was ordered to give up the airplane and pay an additional $15,000. She is an Ottawa airplane enthusiast and a former employee of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce.
