GARNETT — If school budget cuts on the state level continue as they have and as predicted for next year, Anderson County USD 365 could see a cut of almost one million dollars. The school district cut $131,000 during the last school year and another $288,000 cut this year. Supt. Don Blome told the Anderson County Review that the district could cut another $544,000 next year. Blome said cuts this year have been managed so far with a reduction in supply purchases and by eliminating the director of maintenance position, saving $50,000. Administrators will share the maintenance supervision throughout the district. Although the district has some extra money in a reserve fund but he said that won’t be enough. He says more cuts will be significant.
