LAWRENCE — One of the nation’s top experts on Islam and the Middle East will speak Wednesday evening at 7 at the Dole Institute of Politics at Kansas University. California professor and author Reza Aslan most recently wrote the book “Cosmic War: A Religious War Between the Forces of Good and Evil.” Aslan said the War against Terror is now seen in the Middle East as a war against religion. He said that the U.S. and its allies can’t win a war against religion. To win the Cosmic War, the West must strip the struggle of its religious and ideological connotations and face the actual grievances that fuel the jihadist movement, Aslan said. His speech is free and open to the public.
