GARNETT — Anderson County commissioners have voted to deny themselves a yearly raise. Commissioners said the money will be given to other county employees. Commission Chairman Eugene Highberger told the Anderson County Review that some county employees have had to get second jobs recently. County employees received no raise last year but were given a cost of living raise this year. The commission’s vote leaves their annual salary of slightly more than $14,000 each. County Clerk Phyllis Gettler said commissioners’ salary is low compared to other Kansas counties, including nearby counties.
