COLONY — A Crest third-grader shocked by the earthquake in Haiti has started a drive to collect supplies in colony for Haitian victims. Sharon Buckle, Colony, told the Anderson County Rview that her son Blake Ashmore was so affected by the earthquake he started a drive to collect supplies at Crest Elementary School and Colony Christian Church. Items being collected include travel-sized toothpaste and toothbrushes, shampoo, bar soap, work gloves, flashlights and batteries, cleaning supplies, non-perishable food, and over-the-counter medical supplies. An account has been set up to accept monetary donations at Garnett State Savings Bank in Colony. Drop-off locations for supplies are at Crest schools, the Country Diner and Garnett State Savings Bank in Colony, and at the Anderson County Review in Garnett. The deadline for donations is Sunday.
