TOPEKA — The Kansas Department of Health and Environment said Tuesday afternoon that a 60-year-old man from the Topeka area has died from the H1N1 swine flu. That raises the number of confirmed deaths to 28. The man had other medical conditions that placed him at greater risk from swine flu, the KDHE said. Flu activity peaks in February or March in Kansas, said state health officer Dr. Jason Eberhart-Phillips. He said health officials are watching the situation closely.
