OTTAWA — Ottawa school officials continuing to look at pay-to-play – making students pay for taking part in sports and other extracurricular activities as one way to cut costs.
Superintendent Dean Katt said the school board has been reluctant to consider the idea but because of state cuts in school aid, they’re looking at everything. Katt said activities director Brad Graf is talking to other high schools to see what they do. Pay-to-play fees probably wouldn’t completely pay for the costs of extracurricular activities, he said.
