TOPEKA — The Kansas Legislature passed Friday a bill making Kansas smoke-free.
Senators changed a bill by adding the clean-indoor provisions and the House approved that version. The bill goes to Gov. Mark Parkinson, who has said he supports a statewide smoking ban. The bill requires most worksites in Kansas to be smoke-free, with certain narrow exceptions. It becomes effective July 1. According to the Kansas chapter of the American Cancer Society, Kansas will become the 29th smoke-free state.
