OTTAWA — Ladies of Ottawa. Throw out those pans and go get fast food. Perhaps this last weekend is the first of a trend that definitely won’t make all those cable-TV cooking shows. Ottawa firefighters paid two calls to local kitchens. An overheated skillet used by a student in Ottawa University’s Martin Hall set off smoke alarms Friday. A man using a deep-fat fryer at his home in the 600 block of South Cherry Sunday saw smoke coming from an electrical outlet. Fire chief Jeff Carner said firefighters turned off a circuit-breaker and advised the man to call an electrician. Carner said there wasn’t any damage – just some excitement.
