OTTAWA — The Ottawa city commissioners have scheduled a vote to issue up to $1 million in bonds to help rebuild the storm-damaged Ottawa Municipal Airport. Commissioners agreed Monday to put the bond vote on the March 17 agenda. City manager Richard Nienstedt said the city’s insurance company for the airport isn’t paying all of the damages that occurred last summer during an 100-mile-an-hour windstorm, which includes damage to hangars and airplanes. The insurance company wants to pay 30 cents on the dollar and the city has been arguing the point, he said. Nienstedt said the city may be forced to find another insurance carrier in the future. The city plans to use the insurance payment and the additional bonds to build a new terminal and hangar south of the present terminal.
