LAWRENCE — A professor from the Miami University of Ohio will talk about black women and jazz in Kansas University’s spring series staged by about jazz Wednesday night. Musicologist Tammy Kernodle’s talk is called ‘ Ev’ry Time I Feel the Spirit’ and will be 7:30 at KU’s Spooner Hall. Her talk about jazz and spirituality will focus on jazz artists Mary Lou Williams and Alice Coltrane, who was also wife of jazz legend John Coltrane. The lecture is free and open to the public.
