OTTAWA — Children and teens who took free flights from the Ottawa Municipal Airport can do more flight training for free. Sue Snodgrass, of the Experimental Aircraft Association, said the free flight-training program is open to any youth who took a free Young Eagle and who is registered with the EAA’s headquarters in Oshkosh, Wisc. Since 2001, more than a hundred youths took Young Eagle flights from Ottawa, she said. About a million youths have taken the Young Eagle flights nationwide, she said. Those youths can get free ground-school training through the Sporty’s Air Web site to qualify for their air certificates. Check the Web site youngeagles.org to register. Look for the tab called ‘EAA Youth Programs’ and then click on the tab ‘Take the Next Step.’
