LAWRENCE — A Kansas University student from Spring Hill has been nominated as a national Barry Goldwater Scholar. Katherine Harry is a junior in chemical engineering and is one of four KU student nominated for the science and math honor. Winners will be announced later this month. Harry said she wants to teach and do research on affordable and environmentally friendly technologies for use in energy, computing or water treatment, or a combination of these, especially for the Third World. She has been summer scholar at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
