OTTAWA — A 66-year-old Lenexa woman received minor injuries as a result of a robbery at KFC shortly after midnight. Ottawa Police Lt. Adam Weingartner said the woman was a KFC employee who had closed the restaurant. She lost money and a purse. The suspect was possibly wearing a long sleeve shirt and orange stocking cap. The suspect left the scene on foot and hasn’t been located, he said. Weingartner said it appears the robber didn’t use I-35 to escape. The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit assisted with the investigation at the scene. Detectives from the Ottawa Police Department processed the crime scene and are following up leads, he said. Anyone with information is requested to contact Sgt. Bobbie Hawkins at the Ottawa Police Department, 242-2561, Ext. 414, or Franklin County Crime Stoppers at 1-888-311-TIPS.
