OTTAWA — The statewide tornado drill will be this afternoon at 1:30. The drill, which was postponed from earlier this week, is part of this week’s Severe Weather Awareness Week. Local emergency officials offer a reminder that you should avoid driving into flooded roads and streets. Motorists can’t see the condition of the road way underneath the surface of flood waters, they say, and a flood depth of just two feet can be enough to float and sweep away a vehicle. They say that flooding causes more deaths than tornadoes.
