OTTAWA — Although its U.S. partner says it’s dropping out, European aircraft maker Airbus said it still wants to submit a bid for the U.S. Air Force’s new refueling tanker. Airbus wants the Pentagon to extend the deadline for accepting bids for the new tanker. Boeing is the sole bidder in the latest change in what has been a controversial and twisted saga. Kansas senators Sam Brownback and Pat Roberts said the deadline shouldn’t be extended. Washington state and Kansas have major Boeing plants and the two states have pushed hard for Goeing to get the contract.
