TOPEKA — A thousand teachers and friends of education plan to hold a rally at the Statehouse Tuesday for public school funding. Among those planning to be at the rally include area teachers. Shawnee Heights teacher and rally organizer Christie Slay said lawmakers keep saying they don’t hear from enough people that there is support for funding public schools. There will be plenty of people for legislators to hear, she said. The rally begins at noon on the east side steps of the Capitol. Gov. Mark Parkinson and state Sen. Tom Holland of Baldwin City, Democratic candidate for governor, will be among the speakers. Members of the group plan to go talk to legislators after the rally.
