TOPEKA – Gov. Mark Parkinson said he’ll name a new secretary of state this morning. The office has been vacant since Ron Thornburgh resigned to take a job with a Johnson County company. The appointment means that with the exception of Commissioner of Insurance Sandy Praeger, all of the statewide offices have people who were appointed rather than elected to them, including Parkinson.
