GARNETT — After an unusually wet year last year, Anderson County could be at risk for more flash floods this year. State climatologist Mary Knapp told the Anderson County Review that the saturated soil means the county is at greater risk for flash flooding than for tornadoes this year. More people die from flash flooding and lightning than tornadoes, she added. The jet stream that produces more tornadoes is settling further to the south and if it stays to the south, she says the region will see fewer tornadoes.
