LAWRENCE — Kansas University’s Hall Center for the Humanities will present a free concert by four masters of what is called throat singing this week.  The Alash Ensemble is from Tuva, a tiny Russian republic next to Mongolia.  Throat singers sing more than one pitch at the same time.  Their performance will be Friday night at 7 at the commons in Spooner Hall.  The event is co-sponsored by the Center for Russian, East European and Eurasian Studies.  Although the members were trained in traditional Tuvan throat singing, they aren’t shy about working with American jazz, rock, classic and folk musicians and have appeared all across the U.S.
