LAWRENCE — International scholars will think deeply about “The Revival of the Renaissance in the 19th and 20th centuries” this weekend at the University of Kansas. Most of the activities will be at the Max Kade Center. The symposium begins friday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Spencer Museum of Art with a reading from Thomas Mann’s novel “Doctor Faustus” with piano accompaniment from Beethoven’s last piano sonata. The symposium will look at the ferment in art, literature, music and culture that resulted from the look-back at the Renaissance. All events are free and open to the public.
