GARNETT–If you happen to travel U.S. 169 in the Welda area in Anderson County, you’ll see some roadwork starting next week. The abandoned A-T-S-F Railroad Bridge at Welda will be replaced with a box culvert. The first construction phase will involve earthwork and won’t affect traffic..but in approximately 2 months, 169 Highway will be closed and north and southbound traffic will be routed onto a detour along U.S. 54 and U.S. 59 east of the project site. Work is expected to be completed late this year.
