TOPEKA — The Kansas Department of Transportation could buy more right-of-way along U.S. 169 in southeastern Franklin County and southwestern Miami County over the next three years. KDOT is requesting public comments on changes to the statewide transportation improvement program, which includes the proposed purchases along U.S. 169. Under the proposal, KDOT could buy more right-of-way along U.S. 169 from the Franklin-Anderson County line near Greeley and in Miami County up to the point that the road becomes a four-lane at K-7 near Osawatomie. Today is the first of a 30-day comment period for the proposed changes. Send comments to KDOT’s Bureau of Program and Project Management.
