TOPEKA–Some have criticized the Kansas Legislature for not passing a budget before adjourning. However, State Senator Derek Schmidt says they couldn’t pass a budget because of the unusually difficult economy. He says this though did allow legislators to take care of other issues that otherwise may have waited for years to be addressed.
