OTTAWA — Mental health officials told area legislators Saturday at the Ottawa legislative coffee that their community mental health centers have taken steep cuts at a time when there’s more need for their services. Legislators said it’s been hard to find money in the state budget but they’ll keep trying. Rep. Bill Feuerborn, D-Garnett, said he’s concerned about the cut. Not only do they affect clients to need the services, and threaten the finances of community mental health centers, it forces counties to raise property taxes to help support the centers.
