OTTAWA — The city held a public hearing Wednesday night on a proposal to issue up to $1 million in bonds to rebuild the storm-damaged Ottawa Airport. The only one to speak was Ottawa city manager Richard Nienstedt who said the city wouldn’t necessary spend the entire amount of bonds. The city is still negotiating with the insurance carrier concerning the damage done to the airport during the 2009 windstorm, which damaged the main hangar and destroyed several airplanes. A special committee is still working out how much the project will cost but the city won’t spend more than the $1 million bond issue, he said. Commissioners will vote on the bonds later.
